About the Author
Michael Sullivan III is a Professor of mathematics at Joliet Junior College. He holds graduate degrees from DePaul University in both mathematics and economics. Mike is a very successful textbook author, having co-authored the following texts

- College Algebra Enhanced with Graphing Utilities 4e (CR2006)
- Algebra and Trigonometry Enhanced with Graphing Utilities 4e (CR2006)
His time in the classroom and extensive authoring experience has given him an excellent foundation to write a successful introductory Statistics text: Statistics: Informed Decisions Using Data 2e (2007) and a briefer version of this text, Fundamentals of Statistics, 1/e (2005).

Great textbook

I used this textbook and I thought it was great. I can't compare it with other statistics books, but I can say that for me, this one was easy to understand and work with. There was nothing about it that annoyed me.
What does annoy me is when people add a rating/review that is based on an issue with shipping or a defect in the individual copy they've received or a misunderstanding about which version includes a key for MyMathLab.

if you need it.. get it..

This book is really good if your teacher is "incapable" of teaching you. while there are words that are used that are not defined, those are few and far between. If your teacher requires it get it. If you want to learn statistics on your own get it.

professor swap

I opted not to take an online class for stats where the teacher used this book. I ordered the book, but held onto it, as an additional resource for my stats class in-classroom. Then for a number of reasons our stats in-class teacher was fired, mostly affirmative action grievances, but I am someone who loves math, and gets it, and she was making even my experience horrendous. Anyway, the online professor was assigned to take over, for the remaining two weeks. At this point, we had two weeks to learn what most students learn in 14-16 weeks. While the professor didn't make us switch books, she did offer to teach us calculator methods, and offer us a lot of free online tools, including her own website which she demonstrates with notes and videos her course. Within a week, everyone in the class was caught up, and we are about to take a final in a day or so. I have to say, she did an amazing job. But I found this book to be what I looked at when she took over. For whatever reason I also had a Triola/Pearsons Stats book too. But still, this one book was the most sequential in terms of showing full complete steps, a sufficient variety of homework samples, and great tips and tools for the various technology options. Its not so pricey compared to other stats books either. I think I could have taken an online course with this book, even with the bad teacher, had I had this book. I think I could have also have used it to self study for either a CLEP, which I have 40something credits from, or used for an independent study. Im a hand-on person, so I felt like I wands on with the type of stats data it choose to use. It was current too, therefore leading me to inquire further and take another stats class. Even students who were not fans of math in my class, everyone is actually feeling good about the new teacher.
