HDV-DVD disk problem

I purchased this Video training course about week ago and was surprised that included DVD is recorded in HDV format (.EVO files). It is HD format introduced TOSHIBA as alternative for Blue-Ray format. I am not able to play video on my Mac with OS 10.7 - Lion installed on it. My Blue-Ray and DVD player don't support this format as well. I have been in Apple store yesterday. Guys from Apple Genius bar have tried 3 different computers with the same result. I have found some information in internet that it will be needed to convert these files to another format (mpeg4 or AVI) or download and install special plugin for QuickTime player... I am just wondering how this material is Apple certified? I did not see anything about this stupid format issue before I purchase this training course. I don't recommend to buy this Aperture 3 training video if you are 100% not sure that you can work with this HDV format and .EVO files. Very disappointed...

After buying I realized Apple has a somewhat thorough series of training videos for free on its website. You may want to check that out.

Not for a beginner

This DVD is not for beginners looking for an introduction into Aperture 3 features. The narrator goes through the material much too quickly, never explaining why certain adjustment settings were chosen nor explaining any of the terminology used. I used Aperture 2 previously so I have some experience with the product line. However, I found myself reviewing DVD segments two and three times to try to capture what was being presented. There are many important points covered, but as an educator, I find the quality of the teaching from this DVD lacking.
