Lightweight beginner's tutorial book

On the positive side: easy, comprehensive tutorials.
On the negative side: too lightweight. Not detailed enough in the creation of complex interactions and showing very few samples.

As of 9-1-11, Lesson Files are No Longer Usable

For some strange reason Adobe was unaware that when they created flash Catalyst 5.5 its older lesson files (included in this book) were made obsolete/ non-compatible.
As of Today there is no official response in regards to new lesson files, therefore the book is fairly useless.
If you search for a fix online you are likely to come across "solutions," one of these being: 1) Use flash builder to import each file (one at a time) 2) follow a series of steps to update the file(s) 3) export them back. ***I didn't bother to include the "series of steps" because this method only worked for some of the lesson files.
For those that bought the electronic copy (doesn't come with the lesson files/ DVD) you'll need to register your copy here [...] AND then you'll have access to the electronic lesson files. HOWEVER, as of today these files have not been updated... and will not work in Flash Catalyst 5.5

Utter Junk

I have been buying and Teaching from the Classroom in a book series for 10+ years and this one for Flash Catalyst is junk. The lessons do not build on each other and there is not even a lesson that shows how to build from scratch. The areas referenced are not even in the application its self. Some of the files do not even work or the instruction is way off. Classroom in a Book used to be the gold standard for learning the Adobe Applications this one is NOT-READY-FOR-PRIMETIME, it seems rushed and sloppy. A total wast of money. I hope that the other Books are not as much of disappointment as this one is. The Bonus content is nothing more than chapters that have been updated to the current CS5.5. Needs better editing, or something.
